The Verschoor Math tutoring curriculum is designed so that students are prepared to engage in algebra with a solid foundation of arithmetic knowledge that is not based upon memorization. Instead, the student discovers the organization and structure that make math easy and fun.
The Verschoor Math tutoring curriculum is focused on “The Big Three.” These are three core skills that most students who struggle with math are not competent with. The three subjects are: one-digit multiplication without a calculator, working with negative numbers, and lastly, fractions.
Oftentimes adults do not feel comfortable tutoring students in math. Sometimes potential tutors think they need advanced math knowledge or perhaps they are math-phobic themselves. With the Verschoor Math tutoring system, you receive training, curriculum, and support so that you can effectively work with students and move them towards math proficiency. In addition, since you only tutor the “Big Three” your level of intimidation and fear is reduced.
We supply live training, either locally or via video. You also receive a step-by-step curriculum including problem sets and solutions for each chapter. Each chapter is meant to stand on its own and only relies on information in previous chapters. Each chapter contains easy to follow examples and upon mastery of a chapter, a chapter test is given.
